School Visits

As part of the assessment or treatment process a school observation can be invaluable.  This gives me a really good idea of how your child is functioning within the educational setting,    As part of school visits I generally recommend a meeting between myself, parent and/or Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO).  I would then complete a classroom obervation, transition observation and (depending on the specific needs of your child) a playground or PE session.

I feel strongly that in order for therapy to be effective, close communication with your child’s school is really important.  If it is not possible to maintain direct contact then I would always encourage email contact with your child’s school at all times to inform them of progress in therapy and to monitor how this is transferring to their everyday function.
